For a limited time, Discovery is offering new Vitality members an attractive special.
Join Vitality before the end of June 2018 and, in addition to the other benefits associated with Vitality membership, you can choose between:
- joining any Virgin Active or Planet Fitness in South Africa and paying only a R700 joining fee (a massive saving of R1 295), or
- a R500 Pick ‘n Pay or Woolworths voucher– you can choose which.
Terms for the Vitality special offer
The special offer is available to all new Vitality members who have an active Vitality policy before the end of 30 June 2018. Note that only new Vitality members are eligible; members who have lapsed in the past three months don’t have access to the offer.
Members have 60 days after the policy activation date to join the gym. If they miss this period, they will qualify only for the shopping voucher.
A few additional conditions apply:
- the HealthyFood benefit must be activated within 90 days after the Vitality policy is active
- two months of Vitality premiums must be successfully collected for you to qualify for the R500 shopping voucher
- if you join a participating gym and activate the HealthyFood benefit during the special offer period, the gym offer will take precedence.

Even if you miss the special, membership in Discovery’s Vitality programme can have valuable benefits.
How it works
You can opt to pay a small monthly contribution to join the Vitality programme once you become a member of a Discovery medical scheme, your employer has Discovery Life Group Cover or you’re a Discovery Life policy holder.
Vitality rewards members who take care of their health, encouraging them to exercise regularly, eat well and do relevant health checks. Members earn points for these activities, and can advance through a total of five status levels as their points accumulate. Higher status levels qualify you for greater rewards.
What rewards can Vitality members earn?
Types of rewards Vitality members can earn include significant discounts on:
- a range of healthy food and care products, from Pick ‘n Pay, Woolworths, Clicks and Dischem
- gym membership with partner gyms
- membership in programmes such as Run Walk For Life, Weigh Less, Weight Watchers SA and the Allen Carr programme, for quitting smoking
- prepaid airtime and broadband subscription
- Ster-Kinekor movie tickets
- KAUAI and Vida e Caffè beverages
- hotel accommodation, flights, bus tickets and car rental
- entry fees for certain running and cycling events.
